Using Technology in your Online Course

Resources & Examples

You don't have to be a tekkie to use cool resources. I don't know if this qualifies as technology, but in this site you can create interactive web-based quizzes, games (battleship, millionaire, matching, at least 10 different kinds), simple web pages, all with fill-in-the-blank templates. Very powerful resource. It does cost $49 a year, but there is also a public space. JHutchin

Another of my favorite sites - again, I'm not sure if it qualifies as technology, but you can use this tool to create a variety on different online learning activities, including webquests, for your students.

Sample of Student Power Point
This link is to a group project powerpoint about propaganda. i was surprised so many of my developmental reading students already knew how to use PP and if they didn't, other students were more than eager to show them how. A good lesson all 'way round. jhubble, acc, austin, texas

Atomic Learning
A resources for teachers and students - very short, specific tutorials on all sorts of pograms. Julie

What I like about Atomic Learning is that these are ONE MINUTE tutorials, which means that in between phone calls and seeing students, you can still have time to get through a tutorial. Or if you already know something about the sujbect, you can drill down to just the specific item that you need without having to waste 20 minutes on something you already know to get to just the one thing that you need! ;-) LUCY

Technology Tutorials
A collection of free tutorials on a variety of programs for both Mac and PC platforms. Dave

A way to think about how web pages can be used in developmental education. This site has links to tutorial, tools, and tutee sites for
reading, writing, math, and study strategies. Let me know if any of the links don't work. Dave
